The title of my diorama is "Child Abuse... An Abusive Childhood Is Not A Childhood". It gives you a look into the home of a healthy, happy childhood and an abusive one. The comparison is drastic...
One side of the house is full of smiling faces. They are the faces of children who are happy and enjoying their childhood. This side of the house is also filled with toys to represent a fun and light-hearted time in these children's life.
The other side of the house is full of disturbing images. Faces and bodies of children who have been abused. Innocent, crying children who have been beaten (one to death). The props are not those of typical childhood, they are cords and paddles (weapons against these children). There are no signs of a happy childhood here.
My diorama is meant to show the contrast between a healthy childhood and an abusive one. I hope that you are enraged by seeing these images of innocent children who have been abused. These children deserve a safe, happy, and healthy childhood. Don't pretend that this problem doesn't exist. We all must defend these innocent children who can't protect themselves.

9/11 Diorama
The 7th anniversary of one of America's most devastating moment, September 11th, is nearing in on us...this event has not only caused the world a lot of trouble but has effected our lives and has made our nation one of war and suffering. Although this horrific tragedy occurred on our soil, it has brought together a nation and proved that we are "one nation under God," and that nothing can break us apart.
My diorama
I chose to create a diorama about the atrocities and genocide that are occurring in Darfur. The main conflict in that region is the Sudanese military and the Janjaweed (an Arab militia group) fighting against rebel groups including the Sudan Liberation Movement and the Justice and Equality Movement. The government of Sudan has being censoring the media and altering reports to downplay the great tragedy that is occurring. War rape is being used against women and children on a daily basis in Sudan to terrorize the local peoples. This conflict has been credited with up to 2 million deaths and 4 million displaced persons. The women and children of Sudan are being forced to live in refugee camps that are ill-equipped and extremely dangerous. Thankfully, as of July 18, 2008, the International Criminal Court filed charges of war crimes against the president, Omar al-Bashir. He is charged with 3 counts of genocide, 5 counts of crimes against humanity and 2 counts of murder and will be tried in an international court following his arrest.
Hope you like it!
